The telecom provider e& UAE is deploying Ciena's optical hardware and software to build a network capable of handling more data traffic. The project uses a technology called DWDM, which allows multiple data streams to travel over a single fiber optic cable at the same time, greatly increasing how much information the network can carry.
This deal is a win for Ciena as it expands its footprint with major international carriers. It shows that even outside the massive U.S. cloud providers, there is steady demand for the high-speed connectivity tools needed to support digital growth and AI services.

Ciena, Toshiba, and Quantum Corridor completed a trial using Ciena's WaveLogic 6 Extreme hardware to encrypt data on a live commercial network. The test achieved speeds of 1.6 terabits per second while using quantum-safe encryption, which is designed to protect data from being cracked by future, highly powerful quantum computers.
This is a technical milestone that helps Ciena stay ahead of rivals. As governments and large banks become more worried about long-term data security, being able to offer built-in, high-speed encryption makes Ciena's most advanced chips more attractive for critical infrastructure.
